Forgotten Castle is a neoclassical instrumental album for string quartet inspired by imagined scenes from the life of a medieval castle in ruins, where memory, time and nature quietly coexist.

Forgotten Castle was inspired by a visit to Astúlez Castle, a medieval fortress standing on a rocky spire in the Valdegovía valley, in northern Spain. Rising from a nearly inaccessible promontory and once reinforced by a high surrounding wall, the castle dominated the region for centuries.
Despite its strategic importance and its glorious past, the structure now lies abandoned, far from the nearest road, gradually reclaimed by vegetation and silence. Its ruined state, entwined with nature, suggests fragments of a forgotten history — traces of lives, conflicts and moments long erased by time.
This album is composed of ten instrumental pieces written for string quartet and conceived as a continuous narrative. Each piece represents an imagined scene from the castle’s existence, forming a musical journey through memory, decay and the quiet persistence of place.
