Cantabrian Sea unfolds through a delicate interplay of glockenspiel, vibraphone, and bells, shaping a sound world defined by transparency, decay, and overlapping resonance. Rather than functioning rhythmically, the instruments operate as layers of light, allowing tones to emerge, fade, and coexist in open space.
This composition later appeared in an alternative version for string quartet, released as part of the album Tied Strings (2022). While the musical material remains unchanged, the shift from metallic percussion to bowed strings transforms the piece’s character, moving from luminous reflection to sustained density and harmonic continuity.
