White Lament unfolds as a tense and disoriented dialogue between vibraphone, bandoneon, and cello. The music moves unpredictably, shifting between moments of nervous agitation and suspended, dreamlike stillness. Rather than following a linear trajectory, the piece embraces fragmentation as its primary expressive force.

The vibraphone introduces a brittle, shimmering surface, while the bandoneon breathes instability and emotional strain into the texture. The cello anchors the ensemble with darker resonance, though never fully stabilizing the musical space. Together, the instruments create a sense of emotional imbalance, where anxiety and urgency coexist with moments of fragile introspection.

In 2022, White Lament was reimagined with a new instrumentation and released as part of the album Brassing Reflections. Transferred to a brass quintet, the same musical material takes on a heavier and more exposed character, transforming inner confusion into a broader, more confrontational tension.
