Built around a clear musical architecture, ABC unfolds through recurring melodic ideas that continually reappear in new harmonic and instrumental contexts. Rather than relying on dramatic contrasts, the piece evolves naturally, allowing familiar themes to acquire new meaning as they return throughout the journey.
The dialogue between the five string instruments is at the heart of the composition. Singing melodic lines alternate with transparent textures, while subtle changes of colour—between non-vibrato, sul tasto, pizzicato and arco playing—shape the expressive character of the music without interrupting its flow.
The harmonic language moves freely between tonal centres and gentle ambiguity, creating moments of tension and release that feel organic rather than predictable. This balance between familiarity and surprise is a defining feature of the musical language found throughout Faces & Places.
As part of the album, ABC contributes another musical portrait to a collection inspired by memories, places and the emotions that connect them. Like every piece in the project, it invites the listener to discover meaning not through a narrative, but through melody, colour and the quiet evolution of musical ideas.
